New Orleans + Memphis
During springbreak I went to the choir and band trip with my high school. We spent 3 days in New Orleans and one in Memphis. It was an awesome trip and I made a lot of new friens and talked to people I havn't talked before.
We left the high school on saturday at about 8 for a 22 hour bus ride! At first the bus ride was fun, because we all taked and watched movies, but after a while (maybe 8 hours..) we all got sick of riding the bus. At night I slept on the floor of the bus. It was nicer than sleeping in a sitting position.
As soon as we arrived we had breakfast at an iHop. And after that we went on a city tour with the bus. We went of the bus at some important places for example a New Orleans graveyard. The New Orleans graveyards are known for their special tombstones. We went to a park and took some pictures and after that we went to our hotel room. When we got on the bus the next day we went to the French Quater. We had about 4 hours to do stuff. I had great fun. Later this day we went to a university where we played a couple songs for a judge. After that we went to a dinner cruise on a steam boat. We had good food and we listened to good jazz music while floating on the river. It was fun. Especally the time in the French Quater.
The next day we got up early to go to a big warehouse of the Mardi Gras parade and we looked how the people made the sculptures and we looked at some big floats. It was pretty cool, but I guess it's more interesting for people who watched the parade more than just one time.
After that we went to a plantation where black people worked for white people. I was looking foreward to this because I hoped to see and learn many things. Unfortunately we kind of rushed through everything. It was still pretty good, though. Next stop was the New Orleans Zoo.
It was a lot of fun! We saw a bunch of cool animals. A white tiger, some crazy monkeys and really fat rhino. Then we packed our stuff to leave for Memphis in the morning. All in all the time in New Orleans was great. The best part was to explore the city of New Orleans by ourselfs. There is so much to see... and by the way, the food was the best I ate in the US so far!
The next day in Memphis we went to Hooters for lunch and explored the city after that. We were walking in Memphis! Up and down Beale Street. I wanted to go to the Gibson guitar factory, but they were closed. That was a thing I really wanted to see, but what can I do? Memphis was allright. Not as cool as New Orleans or Chicago, but It was cool to be there for the day.
The same day we drove on to Misoury where we ate in a good restaurant and slept. The next morining we drove home and arrived at about 7p.m. I was happy that I was in the second bus, because the first bus had a flat tire and arrived at the high school 4-5 hours later.
All in all the trip was very good and I had a lot of fun!
